Nuevo Sol members are day laborers and domestic workers — people who build, clean, cook, care for children and elders, and keep San Francisco running. Our work is to make sure they are treated with dignity, paid fairly, and equipped to lead.
Worker Dispatch
We connect workers with dignified job placements and fair wages — and we stand with them in disputes with employers. No commission is ever taken. Every dollar goes to the worker.
Our members provide:
- House cleaning
- Gardening
- Handyman and moving services
- Elder care and patient caregiving
- Childcare and event staffing
Education & Outreach
We meet workers where they are — on street corners, in homes, in community spaces — with labor rights training and know-your-rights education in Spanish.
Leadership Development
Members don’t just participate in Nuevo Sol. They lead it. Our members run our outreach, policy, and advocacy committees and develop as organizers and community leaders.
Policy & Coalition Work
We win and enforce labor protections through coalitions including NDWA, the California Domestic Workers Coalition, SF Rising, and Jobs with Justice SF.
Community Programs
Our domestic worker–led choir and cultural events build identity, resilience, and a sense of belonging — because a movement is also a community.
Civic Engagement
We connect members to civic life — voter registration, public comment, and community advocacy — because worker power is community power.
